WEEKLY BULLETIN
WEEK OF: April 29 – May 5, 2012
CAREERS: Fifth grade students continue to prepare for their trip to JA BizTown. Students will participate in a simulated community designed to support differentiated learning styles. They have developed a strong understanding of the relationship between what they learn in school and their successful participation in the worldwide community. This week, they completed job applications. During this process, students learned about different employment options including CEO’s, CFO’s, Advertising Executives, Sales Managers, Attorneys, City Administrators, Designers, and Program Directions. They are anxiously awaiting to receive their job assignments.
FANTASTIC FRIDAYS: All of the second grade students, traveling through Mrs. Sauer’s Social Studies class on Fantastic Friday’s, are working on brochures to advertise the national landmarks/monuments they have been researching the past couple of weeks. Their brochures include facts, opinions, activities one can do at their landmarks/monuments, and, of course, pictures. They hope to finish them and present them to each other before the end of the school year and perhaps debate which one would be the best to visit!
4TH GRADE SCIENCE: The fourth grade science classes have been learning how prehistoric plants compare to plants of today. In order to do this comparison, scientists rely on fossils of prehistoric plants. Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Lister’s classes made their own fossils this week out of plaster and natural artifacts. They created fossil impressions to show how fossils can be made.
